Shar Mountain or shortly Shara is one of the greatest mountain ranges in Macedonia. It is situated in the north-western part in Macedonia. The spacious mountain consists of two big and wide high slopes, Vraca and Rudoka. The highest peak on Shara is Titov Vrv, 2748 metres height, and there are also smaller peaks like: Mal Turchin (2702 m), Bakrdan (2700 m), Ljuboten (2499 m), Livadica (2491 m) and others.
One of the characteristics of Shar Mountain, despite the rich flora and fauna, is its great amount of water. First of all, there are the two well-known “Sharplaninski Eyes” which are glacial lakes, 27 total, and other 100 greater sources, springs.
