Vodno Park Forest Skopje

The park-forest Vodno is on the south border with the Skopska valley. Geograficall, it is positioned in the central northern part of Macedonia and it represents a significant green protector for the capital city of Skopje. The highest peak on Vodno is Krstovar, 1067 metres height where you see the colossal Millennium Cross, which represents one of the most impressive sights in the capital. To the top, despite the mountain paths, there is also a cable car which starts from the place Middle Vodno up to the top Krstovar, which also represents a wonderful place for the view it offers, and there is also a Mountaineer’s House and other activities.

Shar Mountain

Shar Mountain or shortly Shara is one of the greatest mountain ranges in Macedonia. It is situated in the north-western part in Macedonia. The spacious mountain consists of two big and wide high slopes, Vraca and Rudoka. The highest peak on Shara is Titov Vrv, 2748 metres height, and there are also smaller peaks like: Mal Turchin (2702 m), Bakrdan (2700 m), Ljuboten (2499 m), Livadica (2491 m) and others.

Popova Shapka - Ski and tourist center

One of the many natural characteristics on this relatively high mountain is that half the year it is covered in snow. The snow falls on Shara from November to May. Due to all these conditions, the oldest and most famous ski and tourist centre is located in here, Popova Shapka - in the heart of the Shar Mountain range, at the altitude of 1700 m, and only 40 km distance from Skopje.

Bistra Mountain

The mountain range Bistra covers the central part of Macedonia, and as a result of its rich world of plants and animals, as well as other rare beauties, for the most part of it we can say that it indeed is the most beautiful mountain range, also part of the National Park Mavrovo. There are many peaks on Bistra, around 15 which are higher than 2000 metres. More significant ones are: the highest – Medenica (2163 m), and below it, the famous village Galicnic (well-known for the popular manifestation “Galicka Wedding”).

National Park Pelister

It is located in the southwestern part of Macedonia, between the Prespa valley and the Pelagonija valley, on the slopes of the Baba Mountain. The park is named after the highest peak of the mountain - the peak Pelister, with an altitude of 2,601 meter.

Mount Nidje and Kajmakcalan Peak

Kajmakcalan is the highest peak of Mount Nidje in the Republic of Macedonia (2,521 m) and during the First World War it was a key position of the Macedonian Front. The Battle of Kajmakcalan (12-30 September 1916) was remembered in history because of the great number of victims suffered by the two warring parties, that is, the Bulgarian and Serbian armies. Due to the steep and narrow trails, it is advisable to visit this mountain peak exclusively with an experienced guide.

Belasica Mountain and Smolarski Waterfall

Belasica is a mountain on the south-eastern part of Macedonia and is amongst the oldest mountains not just in this country, but the Balkan as well. It was formed during the creation of the Rodop mountains. According to its height, it belongs in the group of relatively high mountains. The highest peak is Kalabak – 2.029 m.

Kozuf Mountain

It is on the south part of our country, along the borders with Greece. Kozuf is 200 km distance from Skopje, 120km from Thessaloniki and 20km from Gevgelija. To get to the inner and highest parts of the mountains as well as the ski centre “Kozuf”, there is a narrow, yet nice, road, which in the winter time is a bit difficult for driving due to the snow and requires careful driving.

Jasen Natural Reserve

On the slopes of the surrounding mountains amongst which lies the lake, there is a famous hunting area and the reservoir Jasen, which used to be closed for the ordinary citizens and only the political elite had the privilege to enjoy its beauties. In the hunting area there are many types of wild animals, including wild goats, pigs, deer as well as many types of birds. The bear and the wolf are not excluded. The flora and fauna on this region are literally untouched by mankind.
