Colourful Mosque

One of the most beautiful and most representative buildings in Macedonia, as well as the most recognizable site of the city of Tetovo is the Colourful mosque. It is located in the old part of the city, on the right side of the Pena River, dating back to 1495. Anyway, its present form, according to the inscription above the front door, reveals that it dates back from the first half of the 19th century when it was shaped on the foundations of another older object.

Isak Mosque

Iskhak Chelebi Ibn Issa Mosque is built in 1506, and it is one of the oldest preserved mosques in Bitola. It is opposite the Clock Tower and the Great Bezisten, and it is a mosque whose minaret is around 50 m. high, simply dominating in the area. This mosque was just a part from the great wakaf of the founder who, despite building this mosque, had also built a madrasa, a kuttab, 103 shops, fields, 20 mills and many other objects.

Daut Pasha Hamam

It is prognosed that this hamam was built in the second half of the 15th century, at the time when Daut Pasha, Rumelia’s vizier, lived in Skopje. It is located near the Stone Bridge, on the left side of the River Vardar, at the entrance of the Skopje Old Bazaar. The object significantly suffered when Skopje was set on fire by Piccolomini in his counter offensive attacks towards the Ottomans in the 17th century.

The Sultan Murad Mosque and The Clock Tower

The oldest mosque ever built on the territory of the Balkans is exactly The Sultan Murad Mosque. It was built by the founder Sultan Murad II, the father of the well-known Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror in 1436. Due to this Sultan foundation, this mosque is famous among the people as the godly, Sultan mosque. The building is erected on the top of the Virginov Hill, on the foundations of the ex-Christian centre in Skopje, the monastery St. Gjorgi.

The Arabati Baba Teke

In the valley of the Shar Mountain, on the exit of Tetovo towards Gostivar, there is a place, one of the most wonderful and most protected dervish tekke in Tetovo – the dervish Arabati Baba or Sersem Ali Baba Tekke, built in the second half of the 18th century. The Tekke’s founders, Redzep - Pasha and his son Abdurahman – Pasha, beside the tekke, they were mentioned in the construction of the Colourful Mosque and the Tetovo fortress.
